Candle Care 101
About soy wax:
- Our wax is 100% USA grown soy which means there may be some imperfections such as frosting, sinkholes, and uneven surfaces. This is all totally normal for soy wax and does not effect the candle's performance at all!
Before you light up:
- The first burn is the most important! Allow your candle to burn for 3-4 hours, or until the wax melt pool reaches the edges of the jar. This will keep your wax from "tunneling."
- Trim your wick to 1/4" before each burn. Get yourself a good wick trimmer, or a pair of scissors will do. This will help prevent the wick from "mushrooming" aka carbon buildup that may contribute to smoke, an uneven burn, or a too-high flame.
- Burn your candle on a heat resistant surface away from pets, kids, drafty windows, and flammable objects.
Aftercare:
- To extinguish, use a snuffer or simply the lid to decrease smoke.
- Let your candle cool completely and the wax reharden before moving it.
- When there's 1/4" wax left in your jar, it's time for a new one! We recommend repurposing your jar for makeup brushes, cotton swabs, bud flower vases, loose change...
- You can clean the wax out of the jar several ways. Pop the jar in the freezer then break up the hardened wax with a spoon. The wax can also be melted on the stove with an inch or two of water in a pot, or in the oven by placing the jar on a tray. Discard the melted wax in the garbage, give the jar a good rinse, and you're good to go!
So glad you're here!
Each fragrance I create is inspired by folklore, mythology, books we've read, and stories that have yet to be told. You'll find the story that inspired your candle within each description on our website, along with a book recommendation.
